Move to the beat or explore a new instrument as you connect with diverse artists and cultures at the J.A.M. (Jazzed and Motivated) Sessions. These FREE and interactive events take place throughout the summer and are centered around movement, music and drumming. J.A.M. Sessions return to the East LA Civic Center for ArtsFest 2012. Starting on July 6, join in every Friday night on the stage of the Civic Center Amphitheatre for a different J.A.M. Session followed by a free Movie in the Park. From salsa to hula, accordion to drumming—each week you’ll get to try out a new art form with your family, friends and community. Make it a night and bring a picnic and lawn chairs! All ages and levels of experience are welcome.

The J.A.M. sessions at the Ford are supported in part by a grant from the James Irvine Foundation.

Tonight @ J.A.M. -Spirit of the Maya!

From the stage of the Ford Amphitheatre, Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet brings the dances from its latest show, Magia del Sureste (Magic of Southeast), directly to you. Taught by Grandeza’s founder and artistic director, Jose Vences, these pieces explore the myths of the Mayan culture, so rich in mysticism. Channel the spirit of the ancients!

This is one of eight J.A.M. Sessions taking place on the East L.A. Civic Center amphitheatre stage. Every J.A.M. is followed by a free movie night in the park starting at 8:30 p.m. For more information on this FREE event call 323-461-3673.
