stressWhether it's a 30 minute search for parking or a stack of overdue bills, life has a way of throwing you curve balls. Some of these moments require deep introspection and long-term therapy to handle calmly, but we've got a few tricks to help you fake zen. So, the next time you're faced with a "just shoot me (or the guy next to me)" moment, you can channel some RFB om and chill out.

The first thing to go during a stressful moment is breathing normally. It sounds funny because it's hard to live without regular infusion of O2, but we funny people tend to switch from nourishing intake to a doggy-style panting. We inhale just the bare minimum. Take advantage of that free calming substance available everywhere on the surface of planet earth. Try it with us. Iiiiiin. Ooooout. Iiiiin, Ooooout. Feel better yet?

Music has also been known to calm the savage beast. Ask your inner animal what emotions it wants to express. Anger? Frustration? Sadness? There is most likely an iTune available to match your mood. If you're not sure, try finding some free (or super-cheap) internet musica a la RFB. For best results, we recommend first choosing a song or two that match your state of mind and then switching to a sound that will bring out a calmer you. "Acknowledge and move on" style. Ya dig?

Movement is a great outlet for pent up emotion. Shake it out on the dance floor or take a walk around the block. You'll raise endorphin levels (read: natural happy-making) and calm down some of that crazy. For preventative action, schedule some excercise into your day. Go the traditional route with a gym routine (we know where you can get free passes), or swing around on some monkey bars. Punch a pillow, play some handball, or sign up for twice a day yoga. There's no wrong way to burn off some of that frustration (except if you're hurting someone; that's bad), so explore your options.

We'll leave you with a few videos that will, hopefully, help you find some inner peace. And, if you're really struggling, look into getting some help (for less, natch). Namaste.
